Apple Crisp screams Fall to me. It's the perfect dessert for a crisp, cool day. I think it's even better than apple pie! The apples are tossed in a mixture of cardamom, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and flour. Then they are topped with an oat crumble topping. This is the best gluten-free version you will ever taste!
Combine diced apples, cinnamon, cardamom, lemon juice, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl. Stir to combine. Set aside.
Gently hand mix butter, salt, brown sugar, oats, and gluten-free flour in another medium bowl. Set the oat mixture aside. You can also use a pastry cutter instead of your hands.
Pour the apple mixture into a skillet or prepared baking dish.
Crumble the oat mixture over apples until the apples are covered.
Bake in the oven for 30 - 35 minutes or until the crumble is golden brown.
Serve immediately or store in an air-tight container.
