To peel, or not to peel

I don't peel my apples before baking them in this recipe. However, the choice is up to you! Some people like their apples unpeeled, while others prefer them peeled. Peeling your apples can be tricky, but if you want to do it, here's how: First, cut off the ends of the apples. Next, slice each apple into quarters lengthwise. Then, cut out the core from each quarter. Finally, remove any remaining seeds.

Common Questions

What apples do I use for this easy apple crisp?

You can use any type of apple for this recipe. My favorite is any kind of green apple. But, any apple will work well. Just keep in mind that some varieties have more moisture than others, which may affect the texture of the finished product.

Can I Make Apple Crisp Without Oats?

Yes, you can make this delicious gluten-free apple crisp without oats. In fact, I often skip the oats altogether when making this dish. For those who aren't fans of oats, feel free to substitute other ingredients such as almond meal or extra gluten-free flour.

How Long Does It Take To Bake An Apple Crisp?

It takes about 30 minutes to bake apple crisp. So, if you're short on time, just put everything together ahead of time and pop it in the oven right away.

What Should I Serve on Top?

If you'd like to serve this apple crisp with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or caramel sauce, go ahead! Or, simply drizzle some honey over the top. Either way, it's sure to be a hit at your next party.

How long is apple crisp good after baking?

Apple crisps are great served warm right out of the oven. However, they also freeze really well. So, you can store leftovers in the freezer for later. Just take them straight from the freezer to thaw in the refrigerator.

Can I use granulated sugar instead of brown sugar?

Yes!

How Do I Store Leftover Apple Crisp?

Leftover apple crisp keeps well in the fridge for 3 days. Simply wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and place it in the coldest part of the fridge. Alternatively, you can freeze leftover apple crisp for up to three months.
