    Lemon Detox Drink

    Sharing is caring!

Lemon water just got even better.

There’s so much hype around lemon water for detoxification. I decided adding a little sweetness (the honey) helped cut the lemon’s acidity.

    What is a detox drink?

A detox drink is an alkaline-forming beverage that helps the body to eliminate toxins. It can be made from any fruit or vegetable juice, but it's usually made with lemon, cucumber, or celery juices.

    The Honey

Honey has a long history of being used as medicine, and it’s been proven to have many health benefits. Honey contains antioxidants that help fight free radicals in our bodies, which can cause damage over time. It also helps with digestion because it contains enzymes like bromelain, which breaks down protein into amino acids. I use Beekeeper’s Naturals honey and swear by it. It helps my throat when it’s sore, and it’s fantastic for my immune system. Also, the taste is phenomenal!

    The Ice

I like a lot of ice in any drink, and this drink is no exception. The more ice the better! I especially like crushed ice in this drink. It feels so luxurious! I have a little silicone ice mold that makes delicious crushed ice.

Why use lemon juice for a detox?

Lemon has been shown in studies to help boost your immune system and fight off viruses by increasing white blood cells. This means you are more likely to get sick less often. Lemon also contains vitamin C which boosts immunity and fights infections. Vitamin C is known as one of the most powerful antioxidants on earth. Antioxidants protect our bodies against free radicals which cause damage to DNA and other cellular components. Free radical damage may lead to cancer and heart disease.
