Pink white chocolate pairs perfectly with strawberries, mini meringues, and even cookies. It's such a sweet treat! The best part about this recipe is that it's extremely easy to make. You just need tempered white chocolate, food coloring, and some different items for dipping. I used mini meringues this time to celebrate Valentine's Day!

    How To Make Pink Chocolate

First, you need to melt your tempered chocolate according to the package instructions. I have some brand recommendations for easy-tempered chocolate. I recommend Ghiradelli. Then, drop in a couple of drops of gel-based food coloring. You can decide how much to add. If you want a bright pink, add more drops of food coloring.

    How to Temper Chocolate

You need a double boiler. A double boiler is a pot set inside another pot filled with simmering water. This allows you to melt chocolate without burning it. To make a double boiler, choose a small or medium saucepan and fill it with a small amount of simmering water. Place a shallow, heatproof dish on top of the saucepan. Make sure the water doesn’t touch the bottom of your dish. You want the boiling liquid to warm the dish, but you don’t need it to get too hot.

White chocolate should be melted slowly over low heat.  A clean, dry spoon works best for mixing.  Don’t lift the lid of the double boiler while heating. Steam can escape, and you don’t want that!

    Troubleshooting Tips

My chocolate is too soft and it melts too easily

It isn’t tempered. Chocolate candy bars should be tempered. Tempering means you need to heat and cool them slowly until they are firm enough to break easily.

My chocolate pieces have white spots or streaks

Chocolate that hasn’t been tempered properly or stored properly will develop white spots and streaks. These spots are actually cocoa fat crystals that have separated from cocoa solids. White streaks and spots in un-tempered chocolate may appear hours after your chocolate sets.

    My Chocolate is Burnt

Chocolate burns when heated too much. Don’t heat it up too much!

    Equipment

    A microwave-safe bowl

    A rubber spatula

    Precut parchment paper

    A baking sheet

    Valentine's Day Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Chocolate-covered strawberries are a Valentine's Day favorite. You can make them by dipping strawberries into the melted pink white chocolate then coating them in sprinkles. The sprinkles are optional.

    Half-Dipped Cookies

Half-dipped cookies are easy to make. Choose your favorite cookie (you can even buy them from the store). Or, make your own cookies. Dip the cookies in the chocolate and then coat in a layer of sprinkles and lay on a baking sheet. Store in an air-tight container.

    Ingredient + Decorating tips

Instant pudding is very easy to use. You simply add water and stir until smooth. You can also add other ingredients such as milk, sugar, and eggs. Pudding is an old-fashioned dessert made with evaporated milk.

Strawberry Gelatin powder is what makes this cookie tasty. You can easily substitute any other kind of gelatin powder for strawberry gelatin powder.

Half-dipped cookies are easy to make. You can use any kind of cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Sprinkles are added by dipping the cookie into melted chocolate. Drizzling the bark over the tops of the cookies gives them a nice finish.

Get festive! You can easily change the colors of the sprinkles to match any holiday. You can also add food coloring to make the almond bark more colorful.

    Other Topping Ideas

You can top your strawberries, meringues, or cookies with mini chocolate chips, cocoa powder, little candies, crushed m&m's, or even dried cranberries. Get creative!

How To Store The Chocolate-Dipped Treats

Store the treats in an air-tight container, in a single layer, in the refrigerator up to 3 days until ready to serve.

    FAQ

Can I dip other treats besides strawberries, mini meringues, or cookies?

Of course! You can dip lots of different baked goods. Try things like rice Krispies treats, mini slices of cake, and bananas.

    So what is cocoa butter?

Cocoa butter is a natural fat derived from cacao beans. It has a similar consistency to olive oil but melts at room temperature.

What Is White Chocolate Made Of?

White chocolate isn’t actually chocolate! Chocolate is made up of cocoa solids and milk. White chocolate doesn’t even contain any cocoa solids. It contains milk, sugar, vanilla, and emulsifiers

Can melt the chocolate and save it for later?

I don't recommend this. The chocolate will harden and will be hard to use. Try to melt the chocolate right before dipping.

    Is this recipe gluten-free?

Yes!! This recipe is completely gluten-free.

What type of food coloring should I use?

Use gel-based food coloring. This prevents the chocolate from seizing up.

    What does tempering mean?

Tempering refers to a process in which chocolate is heated and cooled to make sure that the cocoa butter in it solidifies into a uniform crystal structure. Chocolate is tempered by melting it and then cooling it down again.

Chocolate needs to be tempered before use. Tempering means heating the chocolate until it reaches a specific point called the softening point. Once this happens, the chocolate will become very smooth and glossy. After cooling, the chocolate will harden. To test if your chocolate is ready, break a bit off and see if it snaps. If it does, it’s ready.

Can I use chocolate chips to make homemade chocolate?

Chocolate chips can be pure chocolate or compounds chocolate. You need to know how to look at the ingredients list to determine the type of chip. Pure chocolate chips will contain cocoa butter and will need to be tempered. Compounds of chocolate chips will have milk powder listed as an ingredient and will not need to be tempered.

Most dark and milk chocolate chips contain pure chocolate, but some white chocolate chips are compound chocolates, too.

    Can I use candy melts?

You can! Candy melts do not require tempering so they're great to use.

How long does this recipe take?

The prep time for this recipe is 10 minutes.

Is this recipe similar to fudge?

This recipe is like a lighter version of a white chocolate fudge recipe.
