Common Questions
Can I omit the almond extract?
Yes! Almond extract is optional in this recipe but if you don't use it, the cookies won't be as sweet. If you do add it, though, try using less for a more subtle flavor.
What about adding vanilla extract?
Yes, if you prefer vanilla, go ahead and add vanilla!
The dough is sticky and/or crumbly. What can I do?
If the dough seems like it might not come together, just knead in some extra flour until it does.
How many sugar cookies should I make?
I recommend making at least 12-16 cookies per batch. That way, you'll get plenty of cookies for everyone.
How long do they keep?
Store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
The cookies look under-baked. Can I bake them longer?
Yes, they'll continue baking after you take them out of the oven. Just give them another 5 minutes or so.
