    Sharing is caring!

These gluten-free candy cornucopias are a great way to decorate for the holidays. You can make this craft with any variation of fall-colored candies you like, or even use different colors if you want. This would be fun to do as an activity at your next fall party, too!

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of year because it’s filled with family and friends, delicious food, and lots of fun activities. I love making things that will help me celebrate all of these things during the holiday season. One of my favorite traditions is putting together gluten-free candy cornucopias to use as gifts and even place cards at dinner. It’s such a simple project, but it looks really pretty when finished.

What You'll Need to Make a Candy Cornucopia

    • Fall-colored ribbon. I like orange and red grosgrain ribbon.
    • Gluten-free ice cream cones. My favorite sugar cones are from the gluten-free company, Joy.
    • Different fall candies like Reese's Pieces, candy corn, and candy pumpkins.
    • Marshmallow fluff or white frosting. Marshmallow fluff works best because it's so sticky!
    • Candy eye sprinkles.
    • A paper towel. You may need some paper towels to clean up the marshmallow fluff.

    DIY Cornucopia: Step 1

First, outfit each ice cream cone with a ribbon tied into a bow.

    DIY Cornucopia: Step 2

Once the bow is secured, smear on a tiny bit of marshmallow fluff just above the top of the ice cream cone. Top the marshmallow fluff with two candy sprinkle eyes.

    DIY Cornucopia: Step 3

Fill the ice cream cone with candies of your choice, and you're done!

    Common Questions

What should I put in the cornucopias?

You can fill your cornucopias with any fall-colored candies you would like. I also sometimes like to add nuts, seeds, and dried fruit. It all depends on what you would like to do. You can fill the sugar cones with any colorful candies. Let your creativity run free!

    Why use sugar cones?

Sugar cones are great because they have the same shape as the cornucopia shape.

    What Is a Cornucopia?

A cornucopia is a horned container. In ancient Greece, they were often decorated with flowers and fruits. Today, we still use them to hold decorations for parties and celebrations. They come in many shapes and sizes. Some have handles, while others don't. The most common size is about 4 inches tall and 6 inches wide. Of course, ours are made with ice cream cones!

What can I do with these DIY cornucopia treats?

You can wrap them up in tissue paper, place them in little boxes, and wrap them with ribbon for a festive Thanksgiving gift. Or, use them as place cards for your Thanksgiving table so everyone knows where to sit. They would also make great candy favors.

Can I make these not gluten-free?

Of course! Just use regular ice cream cones and you're all set.
