Are you a fan of pumpkin and chocolate? It might sound surprising, but pumpkin and chocolate are a great flavor combination. Like my simple chocolate-covered strawberry patties, these pumpkin patties with chocolate are bursting with flavor and creamy filling.
This was inspired by my other recipe on this site, and pairs well with this amazing sidedish recipe. Contextual, in-content links are far more valuable than a group listed at the bottom of the post.

Can I use real or fresh pumpkin for this recipe?
This recipe for pumpkin patties with chocolate calls for canned pumpkin. You can use freshly roasted pumpkin puree instead, too.
Ingredient Notes
- Sweetened Condensed Milk: this holds the pumpkin together and gives the patties a creamy consistency.
- Pumpkin: I use canned pumpkin puree for this recipe for pumpkin patties with chocolate.
- Chocolate: I recommend using dark chocolate. Lindt 70% dark chocolate is a great kind of chocolate to use for these pumpkin patties.
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
- Mix together the condensed milk, pumpkin puree, and vanilla using a whisk or mixer.
- Add in the four cups of powdered sugar and mix until combined.
- Gently roll out the dough on a piece of parchment paper sprinkled with a generous amount of powdered sugar.
- Cut out mini circles of the dough and lay them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Chill in the freezer for 20 minutes.
- In the meantime, melt the chocolate. Make sure the chocolate is a room temperature after melting.
- After the dough has been chilling for 20 minutes, take out dip each patty into the chocolate. Lay back on a parchment-lined baking sheet and store in the refrigerator until ready to eat.
Hint: Make sure each patty is almost frozen before dipping in chocolate.
Equipment
Storage
Store the pumpkin patties in the refrigerator until ready to eat. Also, they taste amazing frozen, too. They are good in the fridge for 3 days and in the freezer for up to two weeks. Store in an airtight container.
Top tip
You can either melt the chocolate in the microwave (keep a close eye on it) or in a double boiler over medium heat. When using the microwave, you need to melt the chocolate slowly and stir frequently.
